United Natural Foods
acrylic on canvas
48" x 36"
I first chose United Natural Food Incorporated because of my interest background in fitness and nutrition. As I researched the company I was really interested in their work with Renewable Energy and sustainable growth.
I chose to overlay three representational images, which I have abstracted in orientation and scale. Two of the three images are sourced from an UNFI informational video. One is a field of solar panels, which talks about sustainability and the power of harnessing Natures energy, the sun. Visually I was attracted to the repetition of the solar panels and the rhythm it created. The second is UNFI’s office building, in which they designed the office’s to have full natural light. I was interested in the visual play of the windows reflective and translucent properties. And the third image I used was a close up of various sprouts. I flipped the landscape type image vertically to create an upward momentum, a feeling of growth and reaching into the sky towards the sun.
The three images overlap, mirror and transform into one another. The painting feels technological, versatile and shifting, its fluidity is apparent and so is its growth.
