SPARKLE SWIM INTO 2022

Happy New Year and welcome to 2022! The original version of “Sparkle Swim” was a watercolor painting that I crafted in 2002 when I titled it “Beta” after my Siamese Fighting Fish. I’ve transformed it into a digital image by adding the sparkles that reflect the awe and wonder of swimming into 2022. As I worked with the image in Photoshop, I formatted it with proportional ratios that correspond to popular phone and desktop wallpapers. Scroll down to find additional downloadable images. Beta ——>Sparkle Swim

This image started as a blank piece of 9” x 12” watercolor paper. I did several studies of my fish, Cheyenne, as he swam and showed off his iridescence. I remember the peaceful feelings I had as I observed him, drawing and painting for several hours. Each time he moved, I started a new study on the page. I tried to let my brush be as fluid and graceful as possible, just like his gentle movements. The original watercolor is posted on my IG page here.

During the last days of 2021, I altered the original, applying light filters, pastel gradients of color, and adding translucent layers of sparkly glitter that were inspired by the background of a Paperless Post card. I changed the composition and added multiple layers to give the image depth and intrigue. Hope you enjoy!
