Happy February, Winged Tree Friend! This past month, I became pleasantly engulfed by my friendship with trees—I even found myself flowing through a couple of “tree portals” as I navigated my creative flow. Hashtag “treefriends” was my personal trend on IG and TikTok as I focused on creating new tree inspired work as well as revisiting my tree populated work from years past. I am presently updating the Landscape gallery of my website, and have rediscovered the Avocado Trees pastel drawing I made in a friend’s backyard 18 years ago. The strong energy in Avocado Trees has been inhabiting my imagination, so I took it as a sign to focus on it while making the February wallpapers. There’s something about the way the tree limbs seem to undulate and unfurl like velvet fabric that really resonates with me. Then, came the butterfly energy. I recalled some butterflies I made during a class demonstration on reflective symmetry. I found the class sample in my digital files—a butterfly I crafted on gold wallpaper samples with black ink and oil pastels. As soon as I found that image, something inside me began to move, sway, and let my wings expand. As I look at the new image and remember my art process, I see trees and butterflies merge while I morph (each moment) into the current version of myself. This winged Edy is sharing creations more fervently and creating a work flow that energizes her every morning before work/school (see my January TikToks and Reels to catch a glimpse.) As I work with the original Avocado Tree image in Photoshop, I incorporated the gilded butterfly while formatting it with proportional ratios that correspond to popular phone and desktop wallpapers—voila—you have your February wallpapers. And February is the perfect month to proclaim my never-ending love of trees and the winged creatures that befriend them. Scroll down to find additional downloadable images.
